AGINE a supercar with so much brute force that it reaches 300 km/h (186 miles per hour) in a spectacularly quick 7.3 seconds. The bugatti veyron is the fastest-accelerating production car in the world. When you consider the fact that the Bugatti Veyron is (electronically limited to prevent tire damage) capable of reaching a top speed of 407.7 km/h (that's 253.2 miles per hour) you see how this truly spectacular car consumes 40.4 L/100 km (4.82 miles per gallon) when it's running at full speed. However, driving the Bugatti Veyron around town you could expect to get 24.1 L/100 km.

The Bugatti Veyron isn't just a supercar that carries on the thoroughbred name of the legendary racing car driver Pierre Veyron. As an admired racing car driver, Mr. Veyron raced for the original Bugatti automobile maker and won the 24 hours of Le Mans in 1939. The Bugatti Veyron 16.4 is the world's fastest and most powerful road car ever produced. It boasts the fastest acceleration speed, and can reach 96.7 km/h (60 miles per hour) in an amazing 2.6 seconds.

Fitted with the W16 engine-16 cylinder engine in 4 banks of 4 cylinders and fed by four super turbochargers. The Bugatti Veyron comes equiped with a dual-clutch DSG computer-controlled manual transmission gerabox. It has an overall length of 4462 mm (175.8 inches) and a width of 1998 mm (78.7 inches) and with a height of 1206 mm (47.5 inches). In addition the Bugatti Veyron has 10 radiators for the engine cooling system, for engine oil, transmission oil, and for the heat exchanger that operates the flow of air to the liquid intercoolers. The Bugatti Veyron has a remakable power to weight ratio of 529 bhp/tonne.

If all of this sounds just a bit hard to believe then you might want to take a peek at the below videos we've provided. There's also some incredible footage not only in the making of the Bugatti Veyron but also testing of the W16 engine. In Episode 2, they reveal how the transmission system, brakes, and the electronically controlled rear wing are made. In Episode 3 shows even more footage of the wing operation, the cars actual sub-assembly, the Veyron fuel tank, tires, and the actual start of the Veyron assembly. The Bugatti Veyron first made its appearance back in 1999 at the Tokyo Motor

Show as a concept car, but it wasn’t until 2005 again at the Tokyo Motor Show that a full production model was first shown. It has been reported that even though the Bugatti Veyron sells for about $2,000,000 US the actual production cost is well above this figure.

So why would Volkswagen build a car that loses money? Because the car was developed as a test bed for future technology and as an exercise in engineering so it remains to be seen weather Volkswagen will make money if the technologies in this car will be used in future mass produced vehicles.
